13/12/09 Mcfly star surprise visit to ADCCT children’s party
Children at the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust (ADCCT) Christmas Party were delighted to receive a surprise visit from McFly frontman Tom Fletcher. The lead singer of the chart-topping band popped into the party at the Oakley Court in Windsor on Sunday, December 13th 2009. The party was attended by children under the care of Wexham Park Hospital, together with children from the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

The words and music for Angels Who Care were written by a Windsor based singing group, led by brilliant vocalist, Gloria Garcia. It was inspired by the story and vision of the Alexander Devine charity.

Lucy Jones becomes the first “ Alexander's Nurse”  


John and Fiona are proud and delighted to announce that Lucy Jones has become the first ‘Alexander's Nurse’.
Sir Michael Parkinson introduced Lucy at his star studded cabaret evening, in aid of ADCCT.  Sir Michael said: “Lucy will be an enormous support to so many families in our community who are going through the heartbreaking experience of caring for a dying child.  It is testament to the incredible hard work of Fiona and John and their team that the charity is now providing a service to the local community, and it brings us one step closer to realising our ultimate aim - the building of Alexander House, the first children’s hospice in Berkshire.”

ADCCT does the double with Sainsbury’s!
ADCCT is delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year by both Sainsbury’s Maidenhead and Sainsbury’s Taplow. The enthusiasm of staff at both stores has been fantastic, and they are coming up with lots of great ideas to raise money. Look out for lots of in-store activity in support of the charity as we approach Christmas!

The Cliveden Club

ADCCT is delighted to be the 2009 Charity of the Year partner for The Cliveden Club.  The autumn/winter programme of activity will be announced shortly.

The trust has received a £10,000 donation from London-based Haymarket Media Group after patron, Sir Michael Parkinson CBE, requested a donation to his local charity for his appearance.

Alcan has generously given A.D.C.C.T. free office accommodation at The Grove in Slough.
Jeremy Spring, Human Resources Manager at Alcan said, We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause and are proud to be associated with a local charity which will benefit families in Berkshire.
